About
Rising Story House is an editorial publication about how stories are made. It considers fiction, memoir and oral storytelling through the craft choices readers can notice and writers can examine.
What we cover
Our subjects include character, scenes, structure, voice and revision. We look at the function of a choice rather than treating any single technique as a rule. A delayed answer, a quiet scene or a change in viewpoint can work well in one story and poorly in another; context matters.
Who it is for
The publication is for curious readers, developing writers and anyone who enjoys thinking about why a story holds together. You do not need a writing background. Terms are explained when they help, and examples are used to illuminate craft rather than to rank stories.
How we approach craft
We compare possibilities, name their trade-offs and distinguish observation from advice. Our aim is not to prescribe a formula, but to help readers recognise the effects a writer may be seeking and consider alternatives.
